“Pillar of piety and a pure life”. The Academy honored the memory of St. Elijah the Prophet

Prophets of ancient Israel is a unique phenomenon. The Hebrew word נָבִיא‏‎ (navi) means “someone who speaks” or “someone summoned to speak”. So, the prophets of Israel were not so much prophets of the future, but messengers called by God to convey the words of Truth...

A life of a prophet is tragic. They were not understood by people, persecuted, humiliated and even killed. Despite all the hostility, they courageously carried on bringing the Divine word to people. By their sacrificial service, the prophets showed true love and devotion to God and their brethren.

Glorifying the memory of St. Elijah the Prophet, the Church calls to follow the example of prophets in their sacrificial service and steadfastness in the truth of God.

On August 1 and 2, Archimandrite Hilarion (Forkavets) officed an All-night vigil and the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Church co-served by the academic clergy.

After to the Sacrament verse, Hieromonk Prokopius (Rudchenko) delivered a sermon.

At the end of the service, the clergy sang the glorification to St. Elijah the Prophet.
