Concert by the Combined Academy Choir Held at the Filaret Evening

On December 14, in the Great Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy, as part of the traditional evening in memory of St. Philaret of Moscow, a concert by the combined choir of the Faculty of Church Singing Art and the Theological-Pastoral Faculty of MThA was held.

The audience was presented with the following works by Russian composers: 

  • "Heaven and Earth" by Stepan Degtyarev, choir director: Anastasia Batarchukova (class of instructor N.B. Volchkova);
  • "Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos" by Georgy Sviridov, choir director: Maxim Shumov (class of instructor M.P. Shoshin);
  • "Do not lament for Me, O Mother" from the cycle "Holy Week" by Alexander Grechaninov, choir director: Irina Zelenkina (class of instructor S.P. Borovinskaya);
  • "Psalm of Introduction" by Deacon Sergei Trubachev, choir director: Euphrosinia Shumskikh (class of instructor K.A. Alekseeva);
  • "O Gladsome Light" from the cycle "All-Night Vigil" by Sergei Rachmaninoff, choir director: Maria Yashkova (class of instructor K.A. Bukurova);
  • "The Virgin Today" by Nikolai Golovanov, choir director: Yana Prenas (class of instructor S.P. Borovinskaya);
  • "Praise of Love" by Deacon Sergei Trubachev, choir director: Elena Terenteva (class of instructor M.P. Shoshin); 
  • "Now Lettest Thou Depart" No. 2 by Alexander Kastalsky, choir director: Ksenia Yermishkina (class of instructor K.A. Alekseeva);
  • "Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos" by Sergei Rachmaninoff, choir director: Elizaveta Kirillova (class of instructor K.A. Alekseeva).

The conducting of the combined choir by graduating students of the Faculty of Church Singing Art gave the evening a particularly reverent, incomparable atmosphere and found a lively response among the numerous listeners — faculty, students, and guests of the Academy.
