The Academic Council hold a meeting
On December 29, 2025, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Moscow Theological Academy was held.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector of the Academy, Bishop Kirill of Sergiyev Posad and Dmitrov, presented all-church and academic awards to a number of faculty and staff of the Academy.

A diploma and the badge of Candidate of Theology were also presented to a cleric of the Sergiyev Posad Diocese, Protopriest Sergei Nikolaevich Ptashinsky, who defended his dissertation on September 18, 2025, on the topic "The Struggle of Believers for Churches in 1950–1982 (Based on Materials from the Fund of the Council for Religious Affairs under the Council of Ministers of the USSR)".

The meeting conducted elections for the deans of the Faculty of Church Singing Art and the Icon Painting Faculty, as well as for the heads of the departments of Biblical Studies, Church History, Church-Practical Disciplines, Philology, Icon Painting, and History and Theory of Church Art. According to clause 3.10 of the MThA Charter, "the deans of faculties, heads of departments of the Academy are elected for a term of five years by the Academic Council of the Academy".

The Vice-Rector for Scientific-Theological Work, Protopriest Alexander Zadorzhny, presented a report on the scientific-theological work of the Academy in 2025 and the plan for scientific-theological work of the Academy in 2026.

The Academic Council approved the academic plans for the 2026/2027 academic year. Issues concerning the work of the Academy's dissertation councils were considered.

Archpriest Sergiy Maratkanov, Head of the Correspondence Studies Department, presented the results of the final certification at the Department of Correspondence Studies.

The Academic Council heard a report from the Director of the MThA Publishing House, Deacon Dimitri Serov, on the work of the publishing house in 2025.
Then, the Rector, Bishop Kirill of Sergiyev Posad and Dmitrov, congratulated those celebrating anniversaries and memorable dates.

In conclusion, the Rector congratulated the professorial-teaching corporation on the upcoming New Year and the approaching Nativity of Christ, wishing everyone God's help in their labors for the good of the Church and the Academy.
