The first meeting of the Joint Doctoral Council in Theology

On February 22, 2023, the first meeting of the Joint Dissertation Council in Theology (99.2.096.03) on the basis of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, the Moscow State University and the Moscow Theological Academy were held in scientific specialties 5.11.1 Theoretical Theology, 5.11.2. Historical Theology, 5.11.3. Practical Theology (Orthodox).

The meeting took place in an assembly hall of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies named after Sts Cyril and Methodius headed by Professor A. Yu. Andreeva, Dr. of Historical Sciences, Chairman of the Council, Head of the Department of Church History and General Humanitarian Disciplines.

Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church, Rector of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, said a welcoming speech online.

The dissertation council staff is Chairman A.Yu. Andreev, Deputy Chairman Archpriest Alexy Marchenko, Deputy Chairman D.V. Makarov, a scientific secretary M.V. Pervushin. Other members of the Council are M.V. Bibikov, D.M. Volodikhin, V.N. Katasonov, Archpriest Ilya Nichiporov, A.Yu. Polunov, R.M. Rupova, O.R. Khromov, D.V. Shmonin and A.Yu. Vinogradov.

At the meeting, the dissertation council accepted for preliminary consideration Vladimir Sergeevich Korobov’s PhD theses on “Theological issues of the Constantinople Councils in 1166, 1170 in the context of a literary exchange between Byzantine and the Latin West” and Irina Vladimirovna Vorontsova’s doctoral dissertation on “The question of the place of the Church in the modern life in the religious movement for church reform in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century”. 

The next meeting of the dissertation council will be held in March 2023.
