Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy met with Moscow universities students

On March 12, 2023, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, met with students from Moscow universities at the Elizabethan Hall of the Academy.

There were representatives of the Moscow State University, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, the Higher School of Economics as well as the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. All of them are members of the "Russian Society", which operates on the basis of aforementioned universities.

During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the interaction of the Moscow Theological Academy and state universities in the field of social service, volunteer work, assistance to military personnel as well as cultural and educational events (lectures, workshops, round tables, conferences).

The students' project is to organize an association that would unite representatives of the "Russian Societies" of a number of Russian universities.

Pyotr Zheleznyakov and Dmitry Skurikhin, founders of the “Russian Society” of the Moscow State University, noted that the project gathers together a lot of Orthodox youth. The creation of such an association uniting various universities including Orthodox educational institutions would contribute to a better implementation of social, cultural and educational spheres. This would bring spiritual and intellectual benefit not only to those, who do social or educational service, but to members of the association themselves.

The students also told Bishop Kirill that the “Russian Society” needs a confessor who could provide care for members of the society and help to implement educational projects.

During the meeting, they asked Bishop Kirill some questions related to theological education and the current state of theological science.
