The MThA Rector co-served the Abbot of the Lavra at the Trinity Cathedral

On July 16, 2022, Holy Trinity icon painted by St. Andrey Rublev was brought to the Trinity Cathedral of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra.

The icon has been kept at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow since 1929. On the memory day of St. Andrey Rublev the image was transported to the Trinity Cathedral and installed in a special glass capsule.

After the meeting of the icon, the Bishop of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov Thomas, Abbot of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, and the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, performed a prayer service.

The brethren of the monastery and students of the Academy joint the prayer at the Trinity Cathedral.

The meeting was attended by Mikhai Yu. Tokarev, Head of the Sergiev Posad District, Sergei A. Pakhomov, Deputy of the State Duma, Olga K. Dudareva, Deputy Head of Administration of the Sergiev Posad Municipal District, Natalya Vl. Firsanova, Head of the Culture and Tourism Department of the Sergiev Posad Municipal District, Sergey A. Obozov, Director of the State Corporation "Rosatom", and Sergey V. Yanchukov, Head of the “Mangazeya” State Corporation.

Background information:

The icon of the Holy Trinity painted in the 15th century by Monk Andrey Rublev was taken from the Lavra at the beginning of the XX century. Since then it has been kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery at the department of ancient Russian painting.

From July 16 to July 18, 2022, the ancient image was on display in the Trinity Cathedral of the Lavra.
