Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy took part in a meeting with representatives of theological educational institutions
On May 17, within the framework of the International Educational Readings, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, Rector of the Sretenskaya Theological Academy and Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church, had a meeting with representatives of Russian theological educational institutions.
The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, attended the event.
Overall, there were more than 50 representatives from all theological educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church including seminaries and theological academies. The participants discussed some issues of theological education in Russia.
Archpriest Maksim Kozlov spoke about field inspections of the Study Committee and the state of chorister’s and icon painting education. He emphasized that the icon-painting and chorister’s departments are getting to a single church-wide standard, which has been developed in recent years.
Archpriest Maxim especially mentioned theological schools that had passed a state accreditation and called on all other theological institutions follow their example.
