Rector of the Academy Archimandrite Kirill (Zinkovsky) elevated to the rank of Bishop

On September 21, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos at the Zachatievsky Stauropegial Convent in Moscow.

During the Liturgy, Archimandrite Kirill (Zinkovsky), Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, was elevated to the rank of the Bishop of Zvenigorod, Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

During the service His Holiness the Patriarch was co-served by the Bishop of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov Thomas, Abbot of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, and such representatives of the Academy as Hegumen Dionysius (Shlenov), Abbot of the St. Andrew Stauropegial Monastery, Head of the Postgraduate Department of the Moscow Theological Academy; Hegumen Adrian (Pashin), Secretary of the Academic Council, and Priest Andrey Lysevich, Vice-Rector for Licensing and Accreditation of the Moscow Theological Academy.

At the end of the Liturgy, His Holiness directed the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill to the service and handed him the bishop's staff. According to tradition, the newly ordained bishop gave the believers his first archpastoral blessing.
