Representatives of the Moscow Theological Academy took part in the All-Russian Church-Historical Conference "Monasteries and Monasticism in the History of the Russian Church"
On November 20, the MThA representatives took part in the All-Russian Church-Historical Conference "Monasteries and Monasticism in the History of the Russian Church" held at the Nicolo-Ugreshskaya Theological Seminary.
This year marks the 155th anniversary of the opening of the Monastic Public School at Ugresh.
Marina S. Krutova, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy and a chief palaeographer of the Russian State Library, made a report on teaching writing and arithmetic’s in Russia in the 11th – 17th centuries based on the materials from the Manuscripts Department of the Russian State Library.
Deacon Vyacheslav Masin, a postgraduate student of the Church History Department at the Moscow Theological Academy, made a presentation on "Asceticism and Science: Discussion on the Nature of Scientific Monasticism at the Beginning of the 20th Century."
