“Dear friends! Dear participants and guests of the festival!

On behalf of the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, teachers and students of our academic family, let me address you with a short welcoming speech!

According to a remarkable Russian composer Georgy Sviridov, who considered singing to be the highest manifestation of the beauty of a human soul, “a folk song and old church music are what makes a base of our culture. This concept was further developed by Mussorgsky, and that what made him a great composer.

The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Theological Academy are the center of a unique tradition of liturgical singing. It brought such outstanding personalities of church choral singing as Deacon Sergius Trubachev, Archimandrite Matthew (Mormyl), Nikolai Vasilyevich Matveev etc. We wish all the participants of the “Golden Domes” festival to perform successfully and look forward to further fruitful cooperation in the field of preserving and developing our traditions of the choral singing art.
