Sunday services at the Moscow Theological Academy

On October 16 and 17, Sunday services were held at the Intercession Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.

During the Divine Liturgy, the Gospel of Luke was read:

But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful».

The main distinguishing feature of a Christian is love for all people, regardless of whether it is a friend or an enemy. Following Christ’s example, we can come closer to an ideal set by God.

On October 16, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed the All-night vigil co-served by the clergy of an academic church.

During the divine service, Bishop Theodorite elevated Grigory Malyuta, a 1st-year student of the Moscow Theological Academy, to a rank of Subdeacon.

On October 17, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

While singing antiphons, Bishop Theodorite tonsured 4th-year undergraduate students Nikita Belnyak, Stanislav Kadyshev and Nikolai Filatov as Readers.

After reading the Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word. After reading the Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

At the end of the Eucharistic Canon, the Rector ordained Subdeacon Gregory Malyuta into a deacon.

Before the Communion, Nikolai Morozov, a 4th-year undergraduate student, delivered a sermon:

In a world full of temptations, the only solid base is our Orthodox Tradition. Following it, each of us can overcome floods and storms of a modern life».
