Entrance exams at the Faculty of Church Singing Art

From July 6 to 7, 2023, entrance exams to the Faculty of Church Singing Art in the direction of the “Program for training ministers and religious personnel of religious organizations” (profile “Church Singing Art”; qualification “Church choir director. Chorister. Teacher”) took place at the Moscow Theological Academy.

Applicants came from different parts of Russia and CIS countries, some of them had a secondary professional musical education. The competition was 2 people per place.

On July 6, Hegumen Lazar (Gnativ), Dean of the Church Singing Art Faculty, interviewed the applicants paying special attention to their spiritual and moral qualities, their churching and the level of professional training.

After that, the applicants demonstrated their creative abilities in conducting, church singing, vocal skills, theoretical and practical knowledge of solfeggio and music theory, piano playing and reading choral scores. Then, they were checked on basic knowledge of Orthodox faith, prayers, liturgy, Church history and the Church Slavonic language.

After the entrance examinations, the commission made a decision on recruitment for the upcoming 2023/2024 academic year. 

On July 7, Hegumen Lazar, Dean of the Church Singing Art Faculty, announced the list of applicants for the Faculty of Church Singing Art at the Moscow Theological Academy.
