Students of the Tauride Theological Seminary visited the Moscow Theological Academy
On April 19, students of the Tauride Theological Seminary visited the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Theological Academy guided by Archpriest Vladimir Chernetsky, Vice-Rector for Educational Work.
Upon their arrival, the students venerated St. Sergius relics and went on a guided tour round the monastery.
At the Elizabethan Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy, guests met with the Rector Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill. He talked with students about the Moscow Theological Schools, its future graduates, choristers and icon painters. Bishop Kirill also touched upon some issues of pastoral counseling as well as knowledge and skills acquired to be a priest.
During the conversation, the Rector mentioned some obstacles posed by the modern secular society and spoke about challenges of pastoral service. Separately, Bishop Kirill touched upon the church schism.
Moreover, the Rector noted that a Christian will be able to resist the devil when he firstly turns to himself. Having healed spiritual wounds and passions, a person is able to change the world around him. According to St. Seraphim of Sarov, «acquire the Spirit and thousands around you will be saved».
Students could also ask Bishop Kirill their questions.
At the end of the conversation, Bishop Kirill wished the students success in their studies and expressed the hope that after their graduation from the Taurida Theological Seminary they would continue their education at the Moscow Theological Academy in the future. Also the Rector presented the students with some memorable gifts.
Then the guests went on a tour round the Museum of Christian Art and the Bible study.
