Moscow Theological Academy Holds Pokrovsky Ball

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the Pokrovsky Ball was held at the Yu.A. Gagarin Palace of Culture in Sergiev Posad.

The event was attended by students from the Moscow Theological Academy, the Orthodox St. Tikhon's Humanitarian University, gymnasium students from the St. Alexius Hermitage, as well as pupils from schools and colleges in Sergiev Posad.

In preparation for the ball, participants gathered for rehearsals over two months to learn the dances and become acquainted with ballroom etiquette.

The event was organized by the administration of Sergiev Posad and students of the Moscow Theological Academy.

The ball opened with a ceremonial polonaise procession. More than thirty dances, including various waltzes, mazurkas, and quadrilles, were performed in two parts. A buffet was held for participants between the parts.

The second part began with a performance by members of the MThA historical fencing and reenactment club "Pyatnitskaya Tower". The performers staged a humorous, costumed skit for the audience, featuring elements of artistic fencing and stage combat.

All participants experienced many vivid emotions, and the event proceeded in a festive and joyous atmosphere.

The participants express their gratitude to the administration of the Moscow Theological Academy for organizing the event, to the ball's master of ceremonies S.Yu. Vertyanov, as well as to the Deputy Head of the Sergievo-Posadsky Urban District of Moscow Oblast, Head of the Education Department O.K. Dudareva, and the Director of the Yu.A. Gagarin Palace of Culture A.V. Vokhmentsev for their cooperation and support.
