Moscow Theological Academy joined the NOTA
On December 9, the IV All-Russian scientific conference "Theology in the scientific and educational space: problems and solutions" started its work in an online format.
The conference is held in order to resolve some tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. Mainly they consider "enhancing the role of Theology in the field of humanitarian knowledge, preserving spiritual and moral values and cultural heritage of Russian citizen, as well as educating a younger generation and strengthening the methodological base of this important branch of science with a modern high-quality system of theological education."
The conference is organised by the Scientific and Educational Theological Association (NOTA) with the support of the Russian Federation President Administration and the Interreligious Council of Russia.
According to the first day agenda, the admission of new members to the Association and the conclusion of a cooperation agreement took place. This year the Moscow Theological Academy applied to join NOTA.
Before the plenary session, a meeting of NOTA members with university rectors entering the Association took place. The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite spoke on a behalf of the Moscow Theological Academy.
The Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Hilarion, Chairman of the External Church Relations Department, President of the Scientific and Educational Theological Association, Rector of the All-Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, greeted new NOTA members.
The plenary session in the format of an open General Meeting of universities - members of the Association was chaired by the President of the NOTA, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk and the Rector of NRNU MEPhI, Secretary of the General Meeting and the Council of the Association M.N. Strikhanov.
At the beginning of the meeting, the conference participants listened to greetings from the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and other high-ranking officials.
Then Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk made a presentation on the topic “Theology as an educational resource: tasks and solutions”.
Secretary of the General Meeting and Council of the Association M.N. Strikhanov reported on joining NOTA as members of new universities and signing agreements with partners. At the end of Mikhail Nikolayevich's speech, all the conference participants unanimously voted for new members to join the Association.
At the end of the plenary session, the participants summed up and adopted the draft final resolution of the IV All-Russian (with international participation) scientific conference "Theology in the scientific and educational space: tasks and solutions."
The conference will continue on December 10.
