The Honored Professor K. E. Skurat’s funeral

On December 16 and 17, on the Day of Sts. Martyr Barbara and Martyr Juliana, the Rector, professors, teachers, staff and students of the Moscow Theological Academy gathered at the Intercession Academic Church to say farewell to the Honored Professor Konstantin Efimovich Skurat.

On December 16, a coffin with the deceased was placed at the Academic Church of the Moscow Theological Academy. Hieromonk Vyacheslav (Sorokin), Vice-rector for educational work, performed a memorial service for the newly reposed, after which students started to read the Psalter.

In the evening, Archimandrite Luka (Golovkov), Dean of the Icon-painting faculty, officed a service at the Intercession Church.

During the services, they kept on reading the Psalter, litanies and requiems.

On December 17, the Metropolitan of Tver and Kashin Ambrose and the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the funeral Divine Liturgy co-served by Protopresbyter Vladimir Divakov, Secretary of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Valerian Krechetov, Honorary Rector of the Intercession Church in Akulovo village, Archpriest Vladimir Chuvikin, Honorary Rector and Confessor of the Perervin Theological Seminary, Archpriest Nikolai Scurat, Cleric at the Church of Prophet Elijah in Obydenny Lane in Moscow, Hieromonk Agaphangel (Budishin), Vice-rector for educational work at the Sretenskaya Theological Academy, the brethren of the Holy Trinity- St. Sergius Lavra and the clergy of the Moscow Theological Academy. 

Relatives, teachers, friends, colleagues, students and graduates of the Moscow Theological Academy also gathered to pray for the deceased Professor at the Intercession Academic Church.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Ambrose and Bishop Theodorite officed a funeral service co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

Before the burial rite, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with a word dedicated to the deceased.

Archimandrite Ilarion (Forkavets), Confessor of the Academy, read a permission prayer.

At the end, the funeral lithium was performed and the procession led by Metropolitan Ambrose and Bishop Theodoret accompanied Konstantin Efimovich to the necropolis of the Moscow Theological Academy situated at the Holy Trinity - St. Sergius Lavra.

After the burial, everyone gathered for a memorial meal, where they shared their memories of Konstantin Efimovich.
