The MThA Department of Church Practical Disciplines has released the fifth issue of the scientific academic journal "Praxis"

The Department of Church Practical Disciplines of the Moscow Theological Academy has released the fifth issue of the scientific academic journal “Praxis”.

The issue opens with a round table materials dedicated to the protection of the rights of Christians in the modern world. The discussion held within the framework of the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Intercession Conference on October 16, 2020, which was possible thanks to the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research in the framework of scientific project No. 18-011-00292.

Articles of particular interest are "Intellectuals and Christianity in Europe: Enemies and Imaginary Allies", "Minority Rights vs. Majority Rights in the Context of Discrimination against Christians”, “Realizing the Right to Freedom of Conscience During a Pandemic”, “Closing the Museum at Hagia Sophia in Istanbul as a Violation of Turkish Obligations under International Law” and “Objections to Abortion: Comparative International legal basis".

One of the main theme of the issue was church singing. There are articles about the church composer Archpriest Peter Turchaninov, the Gregorian Chorale as a cultural phenomenon of the early Middle Ages, the meaning of ancient church chants. The Bibliographic Review contains an article on “Bach is in all music, … ” and “Music as a subject of Theology”.

The issue also raises the topic of canonical boundaries of the Orthodox mission on the Internet.

Publications and archival materials contain a translation of S.V. Troitsky’s article on "The Council of the Russian Orthodox Church."

The Chronicle provides an overview of the new Master's program of the Moscow Theological Academy in "Modern Canon Law", the first enrollment for which will take place in summer 2021.

Praxis is the only scientific journal in Russia canonical, state and international law, Liturgy and Pastorology. The purpose of the journal is to present relevant researches in History, theory and practice of these disciplines.
