The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite officed divine services on the day of Saint Apostles Peter and Paul

On July 12, the Holy Church celebrates the day of the Saint Primate Apostles Peter and Paul.

On July 11, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed an All-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

Timophey Bakhterov, a graduate student of the Moscow Theological Academy, delivered a sermon.

On July 12, the Bishop celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by the academic clergy.

At the antiphons, the Rector tonsured Dmitry Golovach, a second-year Master’s student of the Theology Department at the PSTHU, as a reader and elevated him into the rank of subdeacon.

After reading the Gospel, the Rector addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

At the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite ordained Deacon Konstantin Sokolov, an MThA graduate student, into a presbyter and Subdeacon Dmitry Golovach into a deacon.

After singing the Sacrament verse, Andrey Kokhno, an MThA graduate student, delivered a sermon:

Proceeding to his goal, a person will definitely meet obstacles and trials, which test his strength and determination. But what will the person do if there aren’t any problems on the path and the goal itself disappears? It makes the entire path meaningless. Parents can work day and night to raise their children. A worker can devote all his life to the project. A young man might spend all his time to reach the heart of his beloved. However, at the end we see that children grow up and leave their parents, the project loses its importance and the object of love gets boring.

After the dismissal, the Rector and the academic clergy sang the glorification to saint apostles Peter and Paul and read a prayer to them.
