Bishop Kirill performed an Akathist to the Passion of Christ

According to a tradition, on Wednesdays the academic family gathers at the Intercession Academic Church to perform an Akathist to the Mother of God. It is distinguished by the beauty of worship and solemnity of chants. However, on the Holy Forty days, the Academy changes a solemn, joyful and major tone of service to a minor and mournful mood singing an Akathist to the Passion of Christ.

On the evening of March 15, at the end of the daily service, the academic clergy, teachers and students gathered together at the Intercession Church in front of the Cross to glorify Lord’s Honest Suffering, which He endured for our salvation.

The worship was headed by the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy.

Looking with sorrow in our hearts at the Crucified and Suffering Christ, we turn to Him with gratitude and hopefully ask Him to make us partakers of His Glorious Resurrection.

After the Akathist, Dmitry Kugaevsky, a student of the propaedeutic Master's course, delivered a sermon.
