Bishop Theodorite celebrated Sunday services at the Intercession Academic Church

On October 10 and 11, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite officed Sunday services in honour of St. Monks Cyril and Mary, St. Sergius of Radonezh’s parents.

The holy spouses lived in the XIII-XIV centuries. Their social status was quite high as future St. Cyril served the Prince of Rostov. St. Cyril and Mary brought their three sons - Stephen, Bartholomew and Peter – in Orthodox piety and according to high moral standards. Just as God looked upon righteous Joachim and Anna, He had bestowed His blessing on this holy family and St. Sergius of Radonezh became a fruit of their pious life.

On October 10, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite celebrated an all-night vigil. During the divine service, the choir glorified the holy spouses:

Living in Christ's Beatitude, you showed an honest marriage and a care for children, your good image, righteous Cyril and Mary, your fruit of piety was revealed in St. Sergius. Together with him you fervently pray to the Lord to bestow the spirit of love and humble wisdom upon us to properly glorify the Consubstantial Trinity".

On October 11, the rector of the Moscow Theological Academy celebrated the Divine Liturgy. After reading the Gospel, Bishop Theodorite addressed an assembly with a sermon.

Before the removal of the Holy Chalice, Archimandrite Luke (Golovkov), Dean of the icon-painting faculty, delivered his sermon in which he mentioned another saint honored that day, St. Chariton the Confessor.

On October 11, the day of memory the blessed prince Vyacheslav of the Czech, Hieromonk Vyacheslav (Sorokin), Vice-rector for Educational work, celebrated his name-day. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite congratulated Hieromonk Vyacheslav and presented him a memorable gift.

Chanting performed by a male choir led by Hieromonk Nestor (Volkov) and a female choir led by Ksenia Alekseeva.
