The Academy celebrated the Ascension of the Lord

On June 9 and 10, festive services of the Ascension of the Lord were held at the Intercession Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.

On the fortieth day after Christ’s, the Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord. 

Christ renewed and glorified our human nature. The work of salvation has been complete. According to St. Athanasius of Alexandria, God became a man in order for a man to become a god. So, since then the gates of the Heavenly Kingdom have been opened and an everlasting life with the Lord is possible. Бог стал человеком, чтобы человек стал богом. Теперь врата Небесного Царства открыты, и вечная жизнь с Господом стала возможной.

On June 10, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated an all-night vigil at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by the academic clergy.

During the evening service, Bishop Theodorite elevated Reader Sergei Krasnikov, a 2nd-year student, to the rank of a subdeacon.

On June 11, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

On antiphons, Bishop Theodorite tonsured Gleb Kozyrev, Maxim Shevtsov, Alexander Yakushchenko and Pavel Mansurov as Readers.

During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Theodorite ordained Deacon Ioann Perminov, a first-year Master's student, into a priest and Subdeacon Sergei Krasnikov into a deacon.
