Bishop Theodorite tonsured students of the Academy

On April 9, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite tonsured students of the Moscow Theological Academy at the Trinity Cathedral of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius’s Lavra.

The monastic vows were taken by:

  • Alexei Rudchenko, a third-year post-graduate student, named Procopius in honor of great martyr Procopius;
  • Kirill Merzlyakov, a second-year post-graduate student, named John in honor of St. John of Rylsk;
  • Sergei Pimenov, a first-year post-graduate student, named George in honor of great martyr George the Victorious;
  • Oleg Tatsiy, a first-year Master student, named Sabbas in honor of St. Sabbas the Sanctified.

The monastic brethren as well as teachers and students of the Academy gathered at the ancient Trinity cathedral to pray for the newly tonsured monks.

After the tonsure, Bishop Theodorite addressed monks Procopius, John, George and Sabbaa with an archpastoral word.
