Bishop Theodorite took part in the preparation to the 600th anniversary of uncovering the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh

On April 12, the Bishop of Sergiev Posad Thomas, Abbot of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius’s Lavra, chaired a meeting dedicated to preparation to the 600th anniversary of uncovering the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The MThA Rector, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, attended the meeting as a representative of the Moscow Theological Academy.

The working group discussed various options for conducting scientific and educational anniversary events. As a result an organizing committee was chosen to prepare a program, which will be later submitted to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill for consideration.

The relics of St. Sergius were uncovered on July 5/18, 1422 under the dignity of St. Nikon of Radonezh. July 18, 2022 will mark the 600th anniversary in the history of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius’s Lavra and the Russian Orthodox Church.The MThA Press Office/STSL Website
