Bishop Theodorite attended the working meeting of the Inter-Council Presence Committee on Theology and Theological Education
On April 8, the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Hillarion, Head of the External Church Relations Department and Rector of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctorate Studies named after Sts. Cyril and Methodius, chaired the 11th working meeting of the Inter-Council Presence Committee on Theology and Theological Education.
The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, attended the meeting remotely.
Metropolitan Hillarion opened the session and announced an agenda. Then the participants heard draft documents on "Veneration of Holy Relics in the Orthodox Church" and "The Attitude of the Russian Orthodox Church to Contemporary Practices of Exorcism", which were approved by the commission.
Also, they discussed some current reports on "Orthodox understanding of factors causing extremism and terrorism" and "Christian worldview and modern challenges of scientific and technological development. The attitude of the Church to new information technologies (anthropological aspect). Problems related to the development of artificial intelligence”.
At the end of the meeting, the Committee formulated a task aiming to study the Orthodox Church attitude to the issue of so-called gender reassignment. It requires working of an expert group, who will develop a respective document in this field.
