Bishop Theodorite took part in a plenum of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Committee

On September 29, the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Ilarion, Rector of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies named after Sts Cyril and Methodius, chaired a plenary session of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission (SBThC) of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, were present at the meeting.

A key subject touched upon ecclesiology of the Constantinople Patriarchate. Earlier, the same topic was raised at the conference organised by the Synodal Biblical and Theological Committee together with the External Church Relations Department and the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies.

During the meeting, the participants discussed a wide range of topics including the claims for the primacy of the Constantinople Patriarchate and its superior role in the Ecumenical Church, the issue of “restoring the priesthood” to those ones in schism and violating church canons from the side of the Constantinople Patriarchate.
