MThA Gathers in Prayer to Honor Those Who Forged Great Patriotic War Victory

For every Russian family, this event holds special significance, as it is tied to the heroic deeds of our ancestors — fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers — who courageously fought on the battlefield and laid down their lives for the Motherlandand their fellow countrymen.

Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a triumph that unites generations; it is a holiday filled not only with joy but also with sorrow for those who perished in arduous labor for the sake of the Motherland, were killed in battle, or tortured in camps and exile. Victory Day serves as a reminder that the path to joy lies through hardship and grief, through the deaths of those who sacrificed themselves for the good of their people.

Today, on May 9, the faculty and students of the Moscow Theological Academy gathered for the Divine Liturgy in the Intercession Academic Church to offer prayers of thanksgiving to the Lord for granting victory in the Great Patriotic War and to honor the memory of those who selflessly and heroically labored for this Victory.

The service was led by Archimandrite Hilarion (Forkavets), concelebrated by the academic clergy.

The sermon before Holy Communion was delivered by first-year Master’s student Monk Luke (Simulik).

Following the Liturgy, the clergy performed a thanksgiving service in honor of the Victory.
