The Academy celebrated the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos

The Mother of God is our unceasing Intercessor. Believers stretch their hands to heaven to ask the Most Pure Virgin for Her help and protection. Centuries ago, the prayer voice of Christians in Constantinople saved the city from enemies and imminent threat.

The Akathist to the Mother of God sang by the clergy on Friday evening was composed after year 626 as a prayerful thanksgiving for the salvation of Constantinople from the conquerors. Bishop Kirill led a festive evening service.

The Akathist divided into several parts is integrated in an entire structure of liturgical prayers filling the content of Lenten penitential texts with joyful thanksgiving praises. At the end of the service the clergy sang the glorification in front of the central: “Rejoice, Bride of the Brides!”

Teachers and students of the Academy took part at the celebration of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos.
