The Academy celebrates the memory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

The Easter season is almost over. Having traveled this path from the Lord's Resurrection to His Ascension, the Christian understands how difficult it is sometimes to keep the joy of the first days of Bright Week. So, to strengthen ourselves and awaken our hearts we glorify the memory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

He was a righteous man, who became an example of strong faith and spirit. All his life he trusted God and became a faithful teacher to others. Being with his relics in the city of Bar, the saint extended his patronage far beyond Italian borders helping everyone who sincerely turned to him. St. Nicholas, help us by the grace of the Holy Spirit to keep the joy of Christ’s Resurrection in our hearts!

On the eve of translation of the Relics of St. Nicholas, Archimandrite Venedikt (Knyazev) together with the academic clergy officiated an All-night Vigil and a festive lithia at the Intercession Academic Church.

On May 22, Archimandrite Venedikt celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

After reading the Gospel and before communion, Hierodeacon Filaret (Zubov) and Archimandrite Simeon (Tomachinsky) delivered sermons. The preachers concentrated their attention on the events of St. Nicholas’ life and his intercession.

At the end of the divine service, the priesthood sang a glorification in front of an icon.
