The Academy prayerfully honored the Kazan icon of the Most Holy Theotokos

The Lord arranged our salvation in the Church. Outside the Church there is no salvation, said as St. Hilarion, Archbishop of Vereya. 

What is the Church? The Lord answered the question in the Gospel of Matthew: For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them (Mat.18:20). So, in unity with others we reach Christ and get a salvation. The Church unites both its leaving and deceased members, and we still pray together.

The Most Holy Theotokos remains the greatest Intercessor of all Christians. Each festive service dedicated to the Blessed Virgin is an opportunity for the entire Christian community to pray to the Lord and ask for her help. At the same time, we glorify the Mother of God for Her mercy and daily intercession.

Today the Church remembers the discovery of a miraculous icon ща the Mother of God that happened in the city of Kazan after a terrible fire in 1579.

On July 20, Archimandrite Venedikt (Knyazev) officiated a festive All-night vigil at the Intercession Church co-served by the academic clergy, performed the festive lithia and the consecration of bread.

On July 21, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Kirill, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Academic Church.

Before the Communion, Hieromonk Procopius (Rudchenko) delivered a sermon, in which he noted that the miraculous discovery of the images of the Mother of God, which took place in different episodes of Russian history, shows the mercy of the Blessed Virgin to the Holy Rus'.

After the service, Bishop Kirill addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

Then the clergy sang the glorification in front of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God.
