The Academy officed divine services on Holy Thursday

On April 20 and 21, divine services on Holy Thursday, when the Lord Jesus Christ established the Holy Eucharist, took place at the Intercession Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.

On April 20, the Bishop of Zvenigorod Theodorite, Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, officed an evening service at the Intercession Academic Church 

At the evening service, Bishop Theodorite elevated monk Amfilochius (Pushkarev), a fourth-year undergraduate student, into a rank of subdeacon.

On April 21, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy co-served by teachers and students in the priesthood.

After reading the Gospel, the Rector addressed an assembly with his archpastoral word.

During the service, Bishop Theodorite ordained subdeacon Monk Amphilochius (Pushkarev) into a deacon.

After singing the Sacrament verse, Gleb Pertrenko, a first-year Master’s student, delivered a sermon:

Today's feast is the radiance of Divine Love for man, a feast of the praying Eucharistic community, a feast of our unity. Despite the temptations of the age, no one can shake this Orthodox unity. The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is our participation in life, suffering, death and Resurrection of Christ. Let it strengthen everyone in faith and give an unshakable determination to follow Christ. Let us remember, that by joining Christ now, we partake His Divine Love that voluntarily accepts everything, conquers death and makes us inhabitants of an everlasting life".
