Abstract
<\/strong>The article discusses the concept of humility as understood by the Apostolic Fathers and the early Christian apologists from the philological and theological points of view. The writings of the Apostolic Fathers are close to the New Testament in their terminological and semantic aspects, they set forth the doctrine of humility commonly in accordance with the New Testament. Apologists aim to defend Christianity from the pagans\u2019 criticism, so they are much more bounded in presenting disputable concepts. The term of humility has a negative meaning in ancient writing, so it is practically not used by the early apologists. The moral concept of humility is presented very briefly. However, this representation in its main features is quite consistent with the New Testament. In general, the doctrine of humility among the Apostolic Fathers and the early apologists corresponds both to the Holy Scriptures and to the later Christian tradition.
