On September 11 and 12, Sunday services on the Day of Blessed Prince Alexander of Neva took place at the Intercession Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1721 after a long and exhausting war, Peter I concluded the peace with the Swedes. In honor of the victory of the Russian army, he decided to mark that day by transferring the relics of Blessed Prince Alexander of Neva from Vladimir to St. Petersburg. On September 12, 1724, the shrine was brought to the Holy Trinity Monastery in the northern capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
