Supreme apostles Peter and Paul are giants of the faith, as they immediately responded to the call of the Lord followed Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, a name of St. Apostle Peter was Simon. He was an ordinary fisherman but the first one, who confessed Christ as the Son of God and got a new name Peter, which meant a \"stone\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it\". <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In opposite, St. Apostle Paul was a zealous Pharisee and a persecutor of first Christians. Once on the way to Damascus he heard a voice saying to him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abSaul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then his life had completely changed and St. Paul started preaching the Word of God fearlessly undergone arrests and abuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Altogether, supreme apostles Peter and Paul preached the Good News and died as martyrs. Each of them became an example of unshakable faith and love to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 12, Bishop Theodorite celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral co-served by the academic clergy and monastery brethren in the priesthood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
